Joachim Hasenmaier, Head of the Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health Business Unit:
Today is a new and exciting day: Merial is now part of the Boehringer Ingelheim family. We have united the strengths of two leading players in animal health into ONE business unit within Boehringer Ingelheim.
Our complementary portfolios make our two businesses a perfect fit. Together we can serve our customers and partners better by offering a broader range of animal health solutions. As we bring our two businesses together, one of our top priorities will be ensuring continuity of excellent service to our customers and partners.
As one business, we now have the privilege and the responsibility of being the second largest animal health business in the world. We will use that scale and our combined resources to help make the industry even better at improving animal health. As a family-owned business, we can take a long-term perspective to help achieve this.
We are passionate about animal health, and we recognize the critical importance of serving animal health needs globally, with a special focus on prevention. We know that when animals are healthy, humans are healthier, too.
Farmers can count on Boehringer Ingelheim to support them in raising and caring for animals in a healthy, sustainable and financially viable way, because we want to build confidence with consumers about the food they eat.
We also know how important pets are to their owners. Just like I do, most owners have lifelong emotional connections with their pets and consider them a family member. That’s why we are focused on helping pets live longer and better.
Last – but by no means least – I’m excited to have the opportunity to lead 10,000 of the best minds and talent in the industry. We will work to meet and anticipate the needs of pet owners, veterinarians, producers, the communities we work in, and the industry at large. As one animal health business, we will be able to do more.
I look forward to providing an update on our progress soon.
